Structure of Functioning
Village, Zonal (Mandalam). There are 6 Zones and they are coordinated into District level Federation.
Aims & Objectives
Kuzhithurai Integral Development Social Services made an effort to organize the marginalized banana farmers into Sangam. Farmers are promoted towards organic farming and providing trainings, awareness seminars and exposure visit. Empowering the small marginal Banana farmers’ associations evolving into regional and district federations and becoming a self-sustaining movement.
Activities
Formation of banana farmer’s group in the villages.
Trainings are provided to farmers to understand the disadvantages of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and to switch to poison-free farming.
Imparting knowledge on adopting natural farming practices to obtain higher prices for agricultural produce.
Taking steps to prevent the intervention of middlemen in the market.
Motivating the farmers about availing welfare schemes, concessions and subsidies.
Maintaining continuous contact with the Department of Agriculture and government officials to learn about various schemes.
Conducting Zonal level conference and District Conference once a year.
Producing value added things to have better economic wellbeing of the farmers.
