    Our Vision

    To unite the scattered fishing communities in the Kuzhithurai diocese, to work towards bringing about fundamental change in all aspects of their lives – individual, social, religious, economic, political, cultural, educational, and artistic – and to strive for a complete human transformation of society by embodying humanitarian values (love, justice, equality, peace).

    Our Mission

    To empower and encourage the inland fishing communities, who are marginalized, deprived of their rights, and lacking dignity in their lives, to unite and work together to reclaim their rights, to show solidarity, and to provide cooperation.

    Our Purpose

    Aims & Objectives

    To organizing the inland fisher people into Sangams (Associations) and emphasize that the development of the inland fisher people in order to prevent them from any type of enslavement and also identifying the key problems affecting the inland fisher people. The focus is towards awareness on health and hygiene, education, livelihood and economic development and self-reliance.

    Activities

    1

    Creating awareness among the target population about social, religious, economic, political, cultural, and artistic fields to enable them to lead a fulfilling life.

    Conducting awareness programs on health & hygiene, leadership skills that enable them to become vibrant people.

    Training the inland fisher people at micro and macro level to act as para legal activists and to organize legal aid trainings and camps so as to address their grievances at all level.

    Facilitating to avail government welfare schemes, subsidy and scholarship etc.

    Motivating everyone to enroll in the welfare association department and get their ID cards.

    Promoting entrepreneur development programmes especially to inland fisher women which will boost them to start self-employment programme of their own to augment their family income.

    To sensitize and strengthen the village level IFO Sangam (Association) and federate them to vicariate level and at district level to get more power and strength.

    Motivating the younger generation towards higher education and job-oriented course towards better future.
